Director of Polytech Nice Sophia Professor Alexandre Caminada visited Tongji University
On 24 April, a delegation led by Professor Alexandre Caminada, Director of Polytech Nice Sophia, visited Tongji University. Lyu Peiming, Executive Vice President of Tongji University, received the delegation. Qu Chen, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office, and representatives from the Sino-French Institute of Engineering and Management also attended the meeting.
Lyu Peiming extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that cooperation between Tongji University and Polytech Nice Sophia has grown increasingly close in recent years. For two consecutive years, Tongji has hosted faculty and students from the Department of Smart Buildings of Polytech Nice Sophia for a one-month exchange programme at the College of Civil Engineering, which has achieved outstanding results. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that the two universities will expand collaboration in more fields, further increase the scale of student exchanges, and create more opportunities for cross-cultural learning and interaction for faculty and students of both sides.
Professor Caminada thanked Tongji University for the warm reception and reviewed the long-standing friendly cooperation between the two universities. He stated that Polytech Nice Sophia attaches great importance to its partnership with Tongji University, especially in engineering education and scientific and technological innovation. He emphasized that artificial intelligence has become a core driver of global higher education and industrial transformation, and looked forward to cooperation between the two universities in this field to jointly cultivate top talents with an international vision.
After the meeting, Professor Caminada and his delegation attended the closing ceremony of the FLY (Future Leaders for Youth) Programme co-hosted by Tongji University and Polytech Nice Sophia. Focusing on the application of artificial intelligence in civil engineering, the programme included special lectures, joint seminars and field practices. Ten students from Polytech Nice Sophia and ten students from the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University participated in the programme, deepening their understanding and enhancing their friendship through exchanges and mutual learning.
This visit further consolidated the traditional friendship between the two universities and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence. Both sides agreed to take this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen student exchanges and elevate the cooperation between the two universities to a new level.
